About Me
During my 30 year career in the public & voluntary sectors, I have worked nationally & locally in a diverse range of organisations, including the Science Museum, London, Rethink Severe Mental Illness, Barnardo's, M-Shed the museum of Bristol and in the agency & consultancy world of PR and fundraising.
Following this, I spent 14 years as the founder & CEO of an award winning perinatal mental health charity. In this time I led the organisation from start up to supporting over 2,000 people each year, building a brilliant team delivering services across the South West of the UK, working closely with the NHS and multiple funders, and raising over £7 million.
I've managed teams, developed health & wellbeing services for women & families, created & delivered creative campaigns to raise awareness of women's health, negotiated and delivered commissioned contracts and been a passionate advocate for mental health support, services, preventative awareness and education, to become equitable and accessible, for all women.
On exiting the charity, I took some time out to train as an ICF accredited coach and now love working with women at all life stages, as a thinking partner, as they pause to explore who they are, the changes they want to make and how to move forward with clarity & balance in their lives, work & wellbeing.
I bring particular experience in working with women who are emerging from a difficult time with their emotional or physical health, burnout, stress or feelings of overwhelm. Having been a busy founder & CEO myself with first hand experience of managing all the responsibility that comes with this, I have empathy and understanding for the multiple roles & mental load women hold and the importance of taking time out to focus on their own wellbeing & growth.
I experienced coaching first hand when I was looking to make some significant changes and bring greater balance to my work & life. By this stage, I was feeling physically and mentally burnt out, overwhelmed and lacked the clarity I needed to move forward and the vision to see what was possible.
The coach I worked with was able to facilitate a gentle and reflective space for me, where I could step away from everything, enabling me see a way forward and start taking the actions I needed to get there. Addressing barriers and setting goals was an important part of this, however equally important was being able to think about my whole self, how I felt and how I wanted to feel in the future.
This was transformative for me and left me with such a strong belief in the power of coaching that I decided to study for a Diploma in Transformative Coaching with Animas, accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
Ruth is a compassionate and intelligent coach, a great listener and reflector. She gave me the confidence and tools to make a significant step-change in my professional career. I left our sessions with useful questions, comments, and insights Ruth made, that were invaluable to my decision-making process. Philippa, Fitness & Wellness Coach & Business Owner, London.
